General Ledger > Maintenance > GL Analysis Group Account
This form is used to setup rules for GL Analysis Group usage, these groups are then applied to analysis codes. Upon entry within transactional forms in WorkPlace these rules will then be honored. Example: you want to force the user to pick from a certain list of analysis codes based on an entered account code. To do this you would setup an analysis group and then on this form tie the group to that account code and mark it as required. Next, setup the analysis codes and link them to the analysis group that you've defined the account association for. Now when the users selects the specified account code WorkPlace will require the user to pick one of the pre-defined analysis codes setup for the group.
Check the box to select, then press save to remove the desired line.
Enter a GL Mask. GL Masks are valid combination of wildcard character(s) and GL Account structure to create a restriction on GL Account codes. You can also choose to select a valid GL Account from the zoom window in place of entering a GL Mask. GL Accounts are set up in GL Account in Maintenance under the General Ledger heading.
Type in or select a valid GL Analysis Group from the zoom window. GL Analysis Groups are setup in GL Analysis Group in Maintenance under the General Ledger heading.
Select and option for the rule to be based on, the options are: Optional (this is the default option), Required, Not Allowed. The relationships and rule assignments made here will determine the valid G/L Analysis values that are available for selection during transaction entry as follows;

Required: G/L Analysis codes from the assigned group will be available for selection. A 'G/L Analysis is Invalid' error will be displayed upon save if the field is blank or contains a value not included in the G/L Analysis Group.
Not Allowed (or not assigned): No G/L Analysis values will be available for selection. A 'G/L Analysis is Invalid' error will be displayed upon save if the field is not blank.
